Gain knowledge while giving back

Our volunteer opportunities are designed to be as enriching for you as they are for the environment. Every task—whether in the field, in classrooms, or behind the scenes—offers a chance to expand your knowledge of conservation, sustainability, and community stewardship. You’ll gain hands-on experience in environmental science, project management, and teamwork while contributing to meaningful projects. For students, it’s a chance to complement their studies with real-world application; for professionals, it’s an opportunity to learn new skills and broaden their perspectives. Every moment spent volunteering is a step toward personal growth and ecological understanding.

Make friends, make change.

Volunteering is also about connection—meeting like-minded individuals, building friendships, and sharing experiences that leave a lasting impression. From collaborating on group projects to celebrating small victories together, the bonds you form while volunteering can be as impactful as the work itself. Many of our volunteers tell us that their time with the trust has given them not only valuable skills but also lifelong memories. Whether it’s the joy of watching a newly planted tree take root or the pride of helping children learn about conservation, the memories created are reminders that collective action truly makes a difference.

Your voice can amplify our impact

Not all volunteering happens outdoors—sometimes the most powerful contributions come from raising awareness and speaking out. We encourage volunteers to use their voices to advocate for conservation in their own networks, whether by sharing our mission on social media, writing about their experiences, or engaging with local decision-makers. Advocacy helps spread the word and attracts more supporters to our cause. As an advocate, you become a bridge between the trust and the wider community, ensuring that the importance of protecting El Pastillo is heard far beyond our immediate region.

“When I first joined as a volunteer, I thought it would just be a nice way to spend my weekends outdoors. But it quickly became so much more. I gained hands-on experience in conservation projects, from learning about native plant species to understanding the challenges our coastal ecosystems face. The mentors at El Pastillo Conservation Trust made sure every volunteer felt included and empowered, even if we didn’t have scientific backgrounds. I’ve made lifelong friends through this program and discovered my own passion for environmental advocacy. Volunteering here has shaped my career goals—I now want to dedicate my future studies to marine biology and environmental policy.”

“Volunteering with El Pastillo Conservation Trust has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. As a teacher, I’ve always wanted to show my students how important it is to care for the environment, but being directly involved in tree planting and coastal restoration projects gave me a whole new perspective. I’ve learned that conservation isn’t just about protecting plants and animals—it’s about creating healthier communities for people as well. What I love most is the sense of teamwork. Every time I join an event, I see people of all ages and backgrounds working together for a common goal. That energy inspires me to bring what I’ve learned back into the classroom, so the next generation can carry this mission forward.”

“As a local business owner in Isabela, I wanted to find ways to give back to the community that has supported me. Volunteering with El Pastillo Conservation Trust gave me that opportunity and so much more. Not only did I get to participate in meaningful projects like beach clean-ups and community workshops, but I also witnessed how conservation directly benefits our local economy. Healthy ecosystems bring more visitors, support local farmers, and make our community stronger. The experience has shown me that protecting nature is not separate from our daily lives—it’s part of everything we do. I’m proud to support a cause that ensures both our environment and our community can thrive together.”
